Before you call

Four things to do after a loss

What you do in the first hour has more effect on a claim than almost anything that happens later.
  1. Step 1

    Make it safe first

Stop further damage before anything else — cover the roof, shut the water off, board the window. Most policies expect you to mitigate, and the cost of doing so is usually covered.

  2. Step 2

    Document everything

Photograph and video every affected area before you clean up or repair. Keep receipts for temporary repairs, lodging and anything else the loss forces you to spend.

  3. Step 3

    Report the claim

Call your carrier on the number below and write down the claim number. Report promptly — most policies require notice within a reasonable time of the loss.

  4. Step 4

    Call us too

Then call (303) 699-1346. We are your advocate through the process — we will read the adjuster's estimate with you and tell you if something looks light.

Claims questions

What people ask us about claims

How do I file an insurance claim?
Contact your insurance carrier immediately after an incident occurs. Document all damage with photos, keep receipts for temporary repairs, and work with your agent throughout the process.
Should I call the carrier or the agency first?
For anything urgent — an accident, a fire, water actively running — call the carrier's 24-hour claims line directly using the numbers on this page. For non-emergency claims during business hours, call us first on (303) 699-1346 and we will walk you through the options before a claim is opened.
Will filing a claim raise my rates?
It can, depending on the type of loss, your claims history and the carrier. That is exactly why it is worth a conversation before you file a small claim — sometimes the deductible makes filing pointless, and we can tell you that in a two-minute phone call.
My carrier is not on this list. What now?
This list covers the carriers we most commonly write. If yours is not here, call us and we will find the right claims number for you.

Dealing with a claim right now?
